Summary:

I love an easy activity, especially an easy math activity so number boxes was perfect for my 4 year old! The focus of this activity is quantity. This is the “knowing numbers” that I’m aiming for: a deeper understanding than just memorized counting. He’s seeing value, he’s understanding quantity, he’s noticing that numbers represent a certain amount.

I did this to give my son a counting boost and to also give him a chance to touch the math and work with the numbers. He could see 4 dots on the number 4. He could see the number / quantity going together. I love this for the simplicity, the ease, and most of all, the great learning practice for my son. What an easy way to practice counting and in such a tactile way!
